ARTS AND LETTERS IN PAROS
This first volume of a series presenting portraits of artists, scholars and also culture institutions, is a partial X-ray image of recent history, arts and letters in Paros including ideas and life attitudes. It may be of interest or concern to many people, greek and foreign, and will offer Parians themselves the opportunity - and surprise - to discover the work and ideas of artists and intellectuals they meet in the street. It is an album based on today's appreciations and is open to future enrichment. A second volume will appear soon.
The volume includes portraits of painters MICHAEL BRADY, FREDERIC BOOTZ and YANNIS DENDRINOS, composers GIORGOS ZIKAS and NICOS SARRIS, musician MANOLIS RAGOUSSIS, musician and musicologist MANOLIS CHANIOTIS, poet and writer CHRISTOS GEORGOUSSIS, ceramists STELIOS and MONICA GIKAS, photographers BRIAN QUINN and STAVROS NIFLIS, archaeologist STELLA LUBSEN, researchers OLYMPIOS ALIFIERIS and YANNIS VASSILIOPOULOS, THE AEGEAN CENTRE FOR FINE ARTS (JEFFREY and LIZ CARSON-JOHN and JANE PACK-JOHN ORFEAS MUNSEY), film director YANNIS TRITSIBIDAS and architects PETROS METAXAS and KOSTAS GOUZELIS. The films are directed by Yannis Tritsibidas, Fivos Kontoyannis and Spiros Tritsibidas. This a first series of more to follow that will comprise an "Encyclopaedia of Paros".
